I feel much less intimidated doing my own organizing using Open Spaces tools…I highly recommend them to anyone who sincerely wants to get organized, get control, and make life simpler and in the end to have time for the important things in life. — Sara B. Burke, The City Studio Dance Center

How to have less stuff in your office.
It's pretty easy for an office to get out of control, stuff-wise. Things come into our space with very little effort, but it requires time and effort -- even if just a little bit of both -- to get things...

Coaching
Have you ever taken a training course, learned a lot, gotten all fired up and then gone back to work, gotten busy and never implemented any of the things you learned?
You’re not alone.
Coaching bridges the gap between learning about new behaviors and putting those new behaviors into action. Instead of getting a bunch of great information at one time and then being left to your own devices to figure out how to incorporate the new behaviors into your life, coaching gives you the opportunity to make small but significant changes over the course of a few weeks or months — with one–on–one support.
What Coaching Provides
Here’s what you can expect with my coaching program:
- A clear picture of where you are now and where you want to be when our work is complete.
- A comprehensive plan for reaching your goal(s).
- An accountability partner. I’m there to help you on track, and if you veer off, to help you figure out why and get you back on the path.
- New ways of looking at things. When you’re in the middle of the situation it’s often difficult or impossible to have an objective view of what’s going on. My job is to see the big picture as well as the underlying details.
- Positive support. My methods focus on how you can use more of your strengths to your greatest benefits and how you can spend less time doing things that drain you.
- No cookie cutter solutions. Challenges may be similar but people are different. I listen to you and understand how you function so I can offer targeted options and ideas.
- A collaborative relationship. Simply because I suggest it doesn’t mean you have to do it exactly that way. I want you to be OK with me pushing you a bit and I promise to be OK with you pushing back. It’s a collaboration.
Coaching Fees
The hourly fee for on-site coaching and consulting is $125 per hour. Should you prefer to prepay for multiple hours or meet via phone, reduced hourly rates go into effect.
Is it worth it? Only you can decide. You may want to crunch the numbers with the Cost of Disorganization Calculator to see what choosing not to fix the problem could be costing you. And the Calculator can’t assess the psychological cost of being stressed and overwhelmed. Some clients have gotten the solutions they need with an investment of just $250. Getting organized is not cost prohibitive, but not getting organized can exact a heavy price.
How Coaching Differs from Consulting
Coaching is about helping you develop and sustain new habits that will make you better organized and more productive. With Consulting we may meet just one time so I can provide solutions to challenges you’ve identified. Then you’re on your own to incoporporate those ideas and processes into your daily routine.
With coaching you have ongoing support—and an accountability partner. Often people learn what to do but have a hard time making themselves do it. It could be that the process we develop (paper handling, for example) needs to be refined, or it could be that new ways of thinking need to be established. As your coach I’m there every step of the way to help you overcome roadblocks and make the change you desire.
